Patrick Burke Late of Somerset County Sadler
was attached to answer unto James Lindow of a plea of trespass upon
the Case &^a
And Whereupon the s.^d James by William Beckingham his

attorney Complains that whereas the s.^d Patrick the First day of march Ann Dom Seventeen hundred
& thirty One at the County ^of Somerset^ afores.^d within the Jur of this Court was Indebted unto the s.^d James in Seven
pounds fifteen Shillings & Eight pence half penny curr.^t money of maryland for Sundrys properly
Chargeable in Acc.^t as by Acc.^t thereof hereunto Annexed may in Court appear and being Soe thereof
Indebted the s.^d Patrick in Consideration thereof the day and year afores.^d at the place afores.^d
upon himself did assume and to the s.^d James then & there did faithfully promise that he the s.^d
Patrick the s.^d Seven pounds fifteen Shillings & Eight pence half penny to the s.^d James when he
Should be afterwards thereunto requested he would well and faithfully pay and Content and although
the s.^d Patrick two pounds Eighteen Shillings & Six pence parcell of the afores.^d Seven pounds
fifteen Shillings & Eight pence half penny to the s.^d James he hath paid and Satisfied yet as to
four pounds Seventeen Shillings & two pence half penny residue of the afores.^d Seven pounds fifteen
Shillings & Eight pence half penny to the s.^d Patrick his promise and assumption afores.^d in form
afores.^d made nothing regarding but plotting and fraudulently Intending the s.^d James in that
part craftilly and Subtilly to deceive and defraud the s.^d four pounds Seventeen Shillings & two
pence half penny to the s.^d James although the same to doe the s.^d Patrick by the afores.^d James
on the afores.^d first day of March in the year afores.^d and often afterwards at Somerset County
afores.^d within the Jurisdiction afores.^d he was thereunto requested hath not paid or Contented
but the Same to him hitherto to pay or Content hath refus'd and Still doth refuse and deny
to the damage of the s.^d James of Nine pounds Fourteen Shillings and five pence currant money
of maryland afores.^d and thereupon he brings Suite &.^a pledges &.^a Jn^o Doe & R: Roe

true as it Stands Stated & that he hath not Rec.^d
any part or parcell thereof nor any Satisfaction
for it nor any security for it any further than
hath given Credit for to y.^e best of his knowledge
