their Corperall Oaths on the Holy Evangelist that they see the surveyor by the Order
of William and Robert Coulbourns Order the said Tree to be marked for a Devisionall
Corner Tree of a Tract of Land Allinated by the said William Coulbourn to his
Brother Robert Coulbourn and that they Carried the Chain where the devisional

    These are to Certifie that we the Subscribers appointed by the Court to Lay out a road for the
Back Inhabitants of the pocosons to the head of Manocan have done the Same accordingly
Beginning in a main Road by a Savanough Known by the name of Breretons Savanough thence
Leading down on the north west side of Thomas Polletts plantation and ^of^ Robert Wilsons and
William Heaths and so down the Branch side by Abraham Heaths to the forck of the river and Likewise
^have^ Opened the Road Between W.m Grays and Thomas Browns plantation as Wittness Our hands

Called George Wilcox of Somerset County Gent was Sumoned to Answer
Unto Colonel Leven Gale of a plea that he render unto him seventy
four pounds Current money of maryland Which to him he Oweth and Unjustly Detain &a
And Whereupon the said Levin by Rob.t Jenckins Henry his Attorney saith
that whereas the aforesaid George the Twenty Sixth Day of February Anno Dom One
Thousand seven hundred and Thirty three four at Somerset County aforesaid within
the Jurisdiction of this Court by his Certain Writing Obligatory did acknowledge himself
to be held and firmly bound unto the said Levin in the aforesaid seventy four pounds
Money afd to be paid to the said Levin when he should be thereunto requested  Nevertheless
the aforesaid George tho' often requested the aforesaid seventy four pounds
to the said Levin hath not as yet rendered but the same to him to render hitherto
hath refused and still doth refuse whereof he saith that he is the worse and hath
Damage to the Value of seventy four pounds Current money aforesaid and thereof
he brings suit &a    And brings here into Court the Writing aforesaid which the Debt afsd
in form aforesaid doth Testify whose date is the same day and year abovesaid &a
                                                                      Pledges &a John Doe & Ri Roe

    And the afd George Wilcox by Geo Douglas his attorney Comes and defends the force and Injury
    when &a and Says that he Cannot Gainsay the action afd of the afd Levin nor but that the writing
    obligatory afd is the deed of the same Geo: Wilcox nor but that he Owes the same Levin the afd
    seventy four pounds Current money of Maryland in manner and form as the afd Levin above
