228 was forty two years of age in January last he is about five feet two inches high of a complexion nearly black was born and raised in Queen Anns County has a small scar on his forehead something like a pit of the small pox over the inner corner of his right eye and another scar of a cut on his right eye cheek near the corner of his mouth and nearly perpendicular with his face and another scar of a cut crosswise on the top of his left wrist and no other notable marks or scars that I have observed In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix (seal) the public seal of my office this 14th day of May anno Domini 1827 Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas application hath been made to me by a negro man named William Wright for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided by which said act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born and whereas also upon the Oath of Nancy Kirkman of Caroline county that the said negro man named William Wright for whom this certificate is made was free born I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that he is about twenty years of age about five feet eight and a half inches high of a dark brown complexion was born and raised in Caroline county and has a scar across the lower joint of his big toe on his right foot and no other particular mark or scar that I have observed In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix (seal) the public seal of my office this 25th day of May anno Domini 1827 Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court Cost 50 Cts |
