160 State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas application hath been made to me by a molatto man named Caleb Dixon for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided by which said act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born and whereas also upon the Oath of Warner Dill of Caroline County that the said molatto man named Caleb Dixon for whom this Certificate is made was free born. I do therefore grant his said application and hereby Certify that he was Nineteen years of age the 25th day of December 1823 he is five feet nine and a quarter inches high or thereabouts of a bright molatto complexion was born and raised in Caroline County and has a scar on the middle joint of the fore finger of his right hand caused by a cut which partially impares the use of the joint and no other mark or scar that I have observed (Caroline) In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name ( County ) and affix the public seal of my office this 16th day of ( seal ) January Anno Domini 1824 Cost 50 Cts Jo Richardson Clk Caro C. Cout State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas application hath been made to me by a negro boy named Jeremiah Garner for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the Act of Assembly in such case made and provided by which said act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon the obtention of a Certificate of being free born and whereas also upon the Oath of William Blake of Caroline County that the said negro boy named Jeremiah Garner for whom this Certificate is made was free born. I do therefore grant his said application and hereby Certify that he was nineteen years ^is thirteen years & six months^ of age this he is four feet nine and three quarter inches high or thereabouts of a dark molatto complexion was born and raised in Caroline County and has a long scar over the outer corner of the right eye brow the lower end of which is on a line nearly horisontal with the corner of the eye and no other mark or scar that I have observed In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name & affix the public (seal) seal of my office this 31st day of December Anno Domini 1823 Cost 50 Cts Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline Coty Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas application hath been made to me by a negro man named Andrew Groce for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of Assembly in such case made and provided by which said act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out of this State upon the obtention of a Certificate of being free born And whereas also upon the Testimony of Joseph Talbott of Caroline county that the |
