65 of Caroline County that the said negro woman named Elizabeth Murray for whom this certificate is made was free born I do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify that from her own account she was nineteen years of age the first day of September last five feet three inches high or thereabouts of a complexion nearly black was born and raised in Caroline County and has a scar of a burn on her right wrist and no other notable marks or scars that I have observed (seal) In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal of my office this 29th day of May Anno Domini 1832 Cost $1.00 Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wi; Whereas application hath been made to me by a negro woman named Amy Murray for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided by which said act free negroes and mulattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born and whereas also upon the oath of Marcey Fountain of Caroline County that the said negro woman named Amy Murray for whom this certificate is made was free born I do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify that from her own account she is going in her seventeen years of age five feet three and a quarter inches high or thereabouts of a complexion nearly black was born and raised in Caroline County and has a scar of a cut on the outside of her right wrist directly below the joint and two fresh scars of scratches on the back of her right hand and no other notable marks or scars that I have observed (seal) In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal of my office this 29th day of May Anno Domini 1832 Cost $1.00 Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas application hath been made to me by a negro man named William Fountain for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided by which said act free negroes and mulattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born and whereas also upon the oath of Marcey Fountain of Caroline County that the said negro man named William Fountain for whom this certificate is made was free born I do therefore grand his said application and hereby |
