certificate of her freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and
provided; And whereas also upon the oath of Aaron Clarke of Caroline County that
the said negro woman named Rachel for whom this certificate is made is the same
person mentioned in the said manumission.  I do therefore grant her said application
and hereby certify that from her age as expressed in the said manumission
she is about fifty two years ^of age^ five feet high or thereabouts of a black complexion
was born and raised in Caroline County and has a ^large^ scar of a burn on the left side
of her neck and no other notable marks or scars that I have observed
[seal]   In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public
seal of my office this 17th day of May Anno Domini 1832

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas application hath been made
to me by a negro man named Joseph Green for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to
the act of assembly in such case made and provided by which said act free negroes and
mulattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon ^the obtention of^ a certificate of being free
born and whereas also upon the oath of Soloman Glanding of Caroline County that the
said negro man named Joseph Green for whom this certificate is made was free born
I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that from his own account ^he is^ about
twenty one years of age five feet seven and ^three^ a quarter inches high or thereabouts of a black
complexion ^was^ born in Queen Anns and raised in Caroline County and has a scar of a scratch
just below his nose on his upper lip another small scar of cut on the hand joint of his
left thumb and another tolerable large scar of a cut on the inside of his right arm and
another tolerable large scar of a cut across his right knee joint and another scar of a cut
on the top of his left foot and no other notable marks or scars that I have observed
[seal]   In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal
of my office this 19th day of May Anno Domini 1832      Jo Richardson  Clk of

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas heretofore to wit:  on the thirtieth
day of June in the year of our Lord EIghteen hundred and twenty a certain Nathaniel
Talbott by Deed of Manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded among
the Land records of Caroline County did manumit and set free a certain negro
woman named Alsy (now calling herself Alice Jones) to be free born and
after the date of the said manumission and the said negro woman named
