To Joseph Richardson Esquire Clerk of Caroline County Court
                         I the undersigned a free negro of Caroline County wishing to visit the City of
Philadelphia for the purpose of seeing my brother &.c  By an act of assembly of this state it
is necessary my intentions of leaving this state should be made known to you; It is my intention
to return here again within three weeks from this date       Given under my hand this
nineteenth day of October 1841                                                   his
