35. Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this 16.th day of September 1847 before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the said State in and for the County aforesaid personally appeared Augusten Smith he being known to me to be the person who is named and described as and professing to be a party to the aforegoing deed or indenture and doth acknowledge the said indenture or instrument of writing to be his act and deed In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid Costs 62½ W.m Glover 5 Sides Recorded the 16.th September 1847
of the sum of Ten Cents to me in hand paid at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have released from Slavery manumitted and set free and by these presents do release from Slavery manumit and set free my Negro man named Joseph Parker being under forty five years of age of a healthy constitution sound in mind and Body and capable by labor to procure to him sufficient food and raiment with other requisit necessaries of life |
