58. To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Nicholas Watkins of anne arundle County in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro boy named Hanson son of Lyle being of the age of nine years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro boy named Hanson son of Lyle I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators forever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this seventh day of January in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and Eighteen Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Nicholas Watkins (seal) Samuel Brown Jun.r R G Stockett At the foot and on the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Received on the day of the date above mentioned the sum of two hundred dollars Current money it being the full consideration money above mentioned Test Samuel Brown Jun.r R G Stockett Nicholas Watkins Anne Arundel County to wit On this seventh day of January personally appears Nicholas Watkins party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State (of) |
