445. Know all men by these presents that I Thomas R Cross of ann arundel county and State of Maryland for divers good causes me thereunto moving and for the further consideration of the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do liberate manumitt and set free my mulatto woman Eliza aged about twenty five years I do hereby declare the said woman Eliza to be henceforth discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me my heirs executors or administrators from this day henceforth and forever In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this tenth day of October Eighteen hundred and twenty nine Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Gideon White Tho.s R Cross (seal) Cha.s B White At the foot of the aforegoing is thus written to wit Maryland Ann Arundel County Sst On the 10.th day of October 1829 appeared Thomas R Cross before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid and acknowledged the above Instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the said woman to be henceforth free Chd Gideon White 2 Recorded the 17th day of October 1829 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Thomas Cook of anne arundel county and State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of the sum of one dollar current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents |
