25 of Annapolis party to the within instrument of writing before the subscriber Chief Judge of the third Judicial District and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the negro slaves male & female & the issue of the female slaves mentioned & described in the said instrument of writing to be free manumitted & discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him from & after the several & respective dates periods & ages therein assigned & prescribed according to the acts of assembly in such cases made & provided Ch.d Acknowledged before Ex.d d.d Jeremiah Townley Chase 4¼ Recorded the 8th day of march 1817 Know all men by these presents that I Charles Carroll of Carrollton of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free from and after the several and respective dates and periods herein after respectively appointed & prescribed all and singular the negro slaves male and female hereinafter named and described & being part of my slaves settled on Poplar Island and also all and singular the issue of the same female slaves at their several ages hereinafter respectively prescribed that is to say; a negro woman named Nelly aged about thirty five years from and after the third day of December Eighteen hundred and twenty five; a negro woman named Charity aged about twenty six years from and after the third day of December Eighteen hundred and (thirty) |
