Witness my hand and seal the ninth of november Eighteen hundred & nineteen Test: Frederick Harwood Richard G Hutton (seal) Richard Harwood of Wm On the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Anne Arundel County to wit: On the 9th day of November 1819 appeared Richard G Hutton before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid and acknowledged the within deed of manumission to be his act and deed to and for the purposes within mentioned and the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Ch.d Acknowledged before James Hunter Ex.d d.d 3¾ Recorded the 9th day of november 1819 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Louis Gassaway of the City of annapolis in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my mulatto woman named Anne Hemmings (or by whatsoever name she may be known or called) being of the age of thirty one years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance together with all and every the Child or Children which the said mulatto woman Anne Hemmings may at any time have and her the said mulatto woman named Anne Hemmings and all and every Child or Children which she may have as aforesaid I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or (adminis=) |
