271 and the negro man therein named to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all services to her or any claiming under her agreeable to an act of Assembly in such cases made and provided Ex.d acknowledged before paid W.m P Mathews 2¾ Recorded the 2.d day of June 1814 To all whom it may concern Be it Known that I Sarah Riggs of Anne Arundel County State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also for the further consideration of the sum of five shillings current money to me in hand paid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free the following negroes children of my deceased servant Dinah viz Bill aged twenty four years Jem aged twenty years Jenny aged twenty one years John aged eighteen years and Harriot aged sixteen years all of whom are able to gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and the said negroes viz Bill Jem Jenny John and Harriot children of the said Dinah I do hereby declare shall be henceforth free manumitted and discharged that is to say that as soon as each and every of them shall have arrived at the age of thirty years or at my death which soever may first happen they and each of them are hereby at such periods to |
