169 Be it remembered that on this second day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven personally appeared Thomas Harris Junior of the City of Annapolis party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for Anne Arundel County and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned according to the act of Assembly in such cases made and provided ch.d acknowledged before d.d Gideon White Ex.d 3½ Recorded the 2.d day of December 1811 Know all men by these presents that I John Chew Thomas of Ann Arundel County and State of Maryland do hereby manumit set free and grant Freedom to the following negroes at the several periods of time herein mentioned that is to say I manumit set free and grant freedom to my negroe men named Billy Tom Solomon John Cate Peter and Dick (son of Rachel) and to my negroe women named Pegg Hannah Priss Nell Charity Nancy Bess Jenny Daughter of Priss and Fanny daughter of Rachel from and after the date hereof and I manumit set free and grant Freedom to Harry and Sam from and after the first day of January next ensuing the date hereof.
