23 by Testimony which is Satisfactory to me that She is the Daughter of the above mentioned Lucy Organs otherwise called Lucy Hawkins who obtained her freedom against James Williams as above mentioned the said Abigail is about five feet one inch high of the age of about twenty years of a yellowish Complexion and was born and raised in the City of annapolis in the County of Anne Arundel aforesaid Issued the ninth day of may 1807 Anne Arundel County Sc.t I Nicholas Harwood Clerk of Anne Arundel County Court. Do Certify that it appears by a Deed of Manumission from Sarah Edwards bearing date the fifth day of May in the year of our lord one thousand Eight hundred and Seven and recorded among the Records of Anne Arundel County Court that Negro Nelly aged about Sixteen years was to be free from the date of the said deed of manumission. she is about five feet three inches high her Complexion a dark Mulatto was raised in Anne Arundel County. Sarah Edwards of said county made oath before Joseph Sands a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid that the said negro nelly is the identical person who was set free in the said deed of manumission Issued the 5th day of may 1807 |
