204 of the peace for Ann Arundel County and acknowledged the same to be their act and Deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negroes Ben and James to be hence forth manumitted and discharged after the Limitation specified in the Condition to this Deed and to be free and manumitted according to the Acts of Assembly in such Case made and provided Acknowledged before W.m Stewart Recd 20th October 1804 Whereas I Margarett Sprigg of the City of Annapolis in Ann Arundel County and State of Maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving do hereby declare free manumitt and Enfranchise my negro Woman Hanna being about Forty years of age hereby Acknowledging the said Negro Woman Hanna discharged from all claim of service and right of property whatever from me my heirs Executors administrators or Assigns from this thirteenth day of November One thousand Eight hundred and four Witness my hand and Seal the day and date above written Sophia Mercer Margaret Sprigg (seal) James Mackubin |
