Anne Arundel County Court Certificates of Freedom, 1810-1831

Wilson aged about thirty four years about five feet
five and an half inches high of a dark complexion
with a large scar upon the left leg just below
the Knee and another across the great toe of the
left foot is the same person manumitted by
Joseph Cowman by deed dated the twenty second
day of March in the year one thousand seven
hundred and eighty two and that his freedom
commenced in the month of April one
thousand eight hundred and two and that the
said Samuel Wilson was raised in the County
aforesaid
Issued the 15.th day of August 1815


State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Sc.t
        I hereby certify to all whom it doth or may concern
that it hath been proved to my satisfaction that the
bearer hereof a negro man named William Queen
aged about twenty one years about five feet eight
and an half inches high of a dark complexion with
a large scar on the front of the right arm near
the Collar bone occasioned by a scald was free
born of Mary Queen and that the said William
Queen was raised in the County aforesaid
Issued the 18.th day of August 1815.



    State of Maryland Anne Arundel County sc  I hereby
certify to all whom it doth or may concern that it hath

a negro man named Isaac Queen aged about twenty
two years about five feet Eight Inches high of a
dark complexion with two small scars on the left arm
