money of the United States, to me in hand paid, at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents, by Leonard Mackall, Ann G. Reynolds & Edward Reynolds, trading and doing business in the City of Baltimore and State aforesaid, under the name and firm of J. W. & E. Reynolds of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said parties of the second part their Executors, Administrators and assigns, one negro woman named Ritty, about twenty six years of age, and her two children, one named Henry about six years old, and the other named Emanuel about three years old one negro girl named Betty about nine years of age & one negro boy about six years of age named George; all of said negroes being slaves for life and now in my possession; to have and to hold said negroes unto the said parties of the second part, their executors, administrators and assigns forever, And I do for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, covenant and agree to and with the said parties of the second part, to warrant and defend the sale of the said negroes hereby sold, unto the said parties of the second part, their executors, administrators and assigns against all and every person and persons whomsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 29.th day of March, in the year of our Lord, one thousand, eight hundred and fifty one Signed, sealed, and delivered Richard M. Waring (Seal) in the presence of Owen M. Taylor J. Peace Maryland, Anne Arundel County Sct. On this 29.th day of March 1851, personally appeared before me the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace, in and for Anne Arundel County and State aforesaid Richard M. Waring who being personally known to me as the party grantor in the aforegoing bill of sale and Instrument of Writing and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed for the purpose therein mentioned and according to the Acts of Assembly in such case made and provided Owen M. Taylor J. P. |
