do now reside.   To Have and To Hold all and singular the said described
tobacco and corn and other the premises above bargained and
sold or mentioned and intended so to be to the said P. D. Carr his
executors administrators and assigns forever.  And I the said William
Bassford for myself my heirs, executors and administrators all and
singular the said tobacco and corn and other the premises unto the
said P. D. Carr his executors administrators and assigns against
me the said William Bassford my executors and administrators and
against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and
will warrant and forever defend by these presents.  In Witness whereof
I the said William Bassford have hereunto subscribed my name and
affixed my seal this twenty seventh day of July eighteen hundred
and forty eight                                                   his

Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Gassaway Winterson

    Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit:

          Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this
twenty seventh day of July eighteen hundred and forty eight
personally appears before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace
of Maryland in and for said County the within named William
Bassford party grantor to the within deed or instrument of writing
and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed according to
the true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of assembly
in such case made and provided.  And now also at the same
time and place also appeared P. D. Carr party grantee to the
said deed or instrument of writing and made oath that the consideration
set forth in the said deed or instrument of writing
is true and bona fide as therein set forth.
      Taken and acknowledged before         Gassaway Winterson
Recorded on the 7.th day of August 1848

This Indenture made this eighth day
of August in the year eighteen hundred
and forty eight between Ruth Hammond
of Anne Arundel County and State of Maryland
of the one part and John T. Hammond
of the said County & state aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that
the said Ruth Hammond for and in consideration of the sum of
ninety five dollars current money to him in hand paid by the said
John T. Hammond at and before the sealing and delivering of these
presents the receipt whereof the said John T. Hammond doth hereby
acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents
