195 This Indenture made this sixteenth day of September in the year one thousand Eight hundred and forty two between Richard I Jones of the City of Annapolis in the State of maryland of the one part and Alfred P Wurts Solomon Caldwell and Edward Wurts of the City of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania of the other part whereas the said Richard I Jones owes and stands justly indebted to the said Alfred P Wurts Solomon Caldwell and Edward Wurts in the sum of seventeen thousand dollars Current Money and to secure the payment thereof is willing to execute these presents Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said Richard I Jones for and in Consideration of the premises and of the sum of five dollars Current Money to him in hand paid by the said Alfred P Wurts Solomon Caldwell and Edward Wurts at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Alfred P Wurts Solomon Caldwell and Edward Wurts their Executors administrators and assigns all and singular the negro slaves and other personal property hereinafter particularly mentioned and expressed that is to say one negro man named Charles about twenty six years of age for the residue of his term of service one negro man named Nat about twenty five years of age for the residue of his term one negro man named Isaac about twenty nine years of age one negro man named Jerry about forty five years of age one negro man named Robert about twenty three years of age for the residue of his term one negro boy named John Blackstone about sixteen years of age for the residue of his term one negro boy named Ben about sixteen years of age for the residue of his term one negro boy named William about sixteen years of age for the residue of his term one negro man Peter about twenty one years of age for the residue of his term one negro man named Hacket about thirty years of age for the residue of his term one negro boy named Robert about fifteen years of age for the residue of his term one negro boy named Henry about fourteen years of age for the residue of his term one negro boy named George about fifteen years of age for the residue of his term and negroes Daniel ^Samuel^ Charlotte Charlotte Ann Maria Louisa Eliza Wakeman Caroline Lucinda and Henney And all the House Hold and kitchen furniture and other the personal property of the said Richard I Jones of every kind and description whatever To have and To hold all and singular the said negro slaves and other personal property unto the said Alfred P Wurts Solomon Caldwell and Edward Wurts their Executors administrators and assigns and to their own use and behoof Provided always and it is declared to be the true intent and meaning of these presents that if the said Richard I Jones do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Alfred P Wurts Solomon Caldwell and Edward Wurts their executors administrators or assigns the full Sum of seventeen thousand dollars Current money in manner following that is to say one third part ^thereof^ within nine months from the day of these presents one other third thereof within twelve months from the date of these presents and the residue thereof at the end of fifteen months from (the) |
