193 the said Sarah M Smith and Mary H Smith their Executors administrators and assigns the following personal property viz.t my negro man Cemon aged Forty years old my negro Girl Cornelia aged Eighteen Years and my negro Girl Louise aged sixteen years and Eight Horses of different ages and sizes on my farm Two pair of work oxen and Four Milch Cows and all now in my possession To have and To hold the said property as above described to the use and benefit of the said Sarah M Smith and Mary H Smith their Executors administrators and assigns forever and I the said Samuel Smith for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the aforesaid negroes and Stock of horses and cattle to the said Sarah M Smith and Mary H Smith their Executors administrators and assigns against me the Said Samuel Smith my Executors and administrators and against all and every person and persons whomsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents Provided nevertheless that in case I the said Samuel Smith shall pay and Satisfy unto the said Sarah M Smith and Mary H Smith or to their Executors administrators or assigns the sum of six hundred dollars that is to say Three hundred dollars to each of the aforesaid persons Sarah M Smith and Mary H Smith Current money with the interest for the same upon the day month and year which shall be hereafter agreed upon mutually by each party herein named Then this bill of sale and every matter and thing therein expressed shall be void and of none effect It being the true Intent and meaning thereof that the said negroes and stock is mortgaged by me the said Samuel Smith to secure to the said Sarah M Smith and Mary H Smith the payment of the money aforesaid In Witness whereof I the said Samuel Smith have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the Twenty first day of augt Anno Domini one thousand Eight hundred and forty two Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Sam.l Smith (seal) Lewis Sutton S.r John T Leitch State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit On this Twenty first day of Augt one thousand Eight hundred and Forty two before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace in and for the state and County aforesaid appeared Samuel Smith the party Grantor named in the within deed or Instrument of writing and acknowledged the foregoing Instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such case made and provided chd Witness my hand & done before Lewis Sutton Sen.r .63cts 5 Recorded the 2 day of September 1842 Know all men by these presents that I Samuel Norman of Anne Arundel County in State of Maryland for and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred and fifty dollars |
