142 acknowledge the said instrument of writing to be his act and deed In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid chd J W Hunter $63cts 5 Recorded the 1.st day of November 1841 Know all Men by these presents that I Abner Linthicum of Anne Arundel County and state of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred dollars Current Money to me in hand paid by Thomas C Pitcher of Anne Arundel County and state aforesaid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have Granted bargained sold and delivered and by these presents do grant bargain and sell and deliver unto the said Thomas C Pitcher my negro woman by the name of Harriott about twenty one years of age and the two children born of her one by the name of Geams about five years of age and the other by the name of Eliza about ten months all slaves for life wich said negro I will warrent and defend to the said Thomas C Pitcher his Executors and administrators and assighns against me my Executors and administrators and against every other person or persons whomsoever in witness whereof I have hereunto set my name and affixed my seal this seventeenth day of September 1841 Abner Linthicum (seal) At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County & State of Maryland to wit On this seventeenth day of September 1841 before me one of the Justices of the peace for the County afforesaid appears Abner Linthicum and acknowledges the foregoing writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such Cases made and provided Wm Shipley paid 3 Recorded the 19th day of November 1841 This Indenture made this twenty sixth day of November in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred & forty one between James D Weems of Anne Arundel County and State of maryland of the one part and Elizabeth Weems of the said County and State of the other part whereas the said Elizabeth Weems did on the seventh^teenth^ day of November Eighteen hundred and forty one endorse five several notes drawn on that day by the said James D Weems one note payable thirty days after date for one hundred & two 13/100 Dollars one note payable sixty days after date for one hundred & two Dollars & 13/100 one note payable four months after date for two hundred & four & 26/100 Dollars one note payable Six months after date for Two hundred & Ten & 39/100 Dollars and one note payable Eight months after date for Two hundred & Twelve & 43/100 Dollars and whereas the said James D Weems to secure the payment of said notes and to Secure the said Elizabeth Weems from Loss or damage on account of said endorsements is willing to execute these presents Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said James (D) |
