1 This Indenture made this 14.th day of November one thousand Eight hundred and thirty Eight between Eli Duvall of the City of Annapolis of the one part and George Wells of said City of the other part Witnesseth That the said Eli Duvall for the Consideration hereinafter mentioned and for and in consideration of the sum of Five dollars current money to him in hand paid by the said George Wells at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said George Wells doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold And by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said George Wells his Executors administrators and assigns a negro man named Isaac To have and to hold the said negro man named Isaac unto the said George Wells his Executors administrators and assigns to his and their only proper use and behoof forever provided always and these presents are upon this Condition that if the said Eli Duvall his Executors or administrators shall and do well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said George Wells his Executors administrators or assigns the full and just sum of fifty dollars due on the first Instant for the rent of a House and Lot in the aforesaid City with legal Interest for the Same on or before the first day of December next and shall also on the first day of February, May, August and November hereafter so long as he Continues to occupy said House and Lot punctually pay to the said George Wells the sum of twenty dollars for rent thereof then and in such Case these presents and every thing herein Contained shall cease determine and be utterly null and void otherwise to be of full force and virtue in Law, In Witness whereof the said Eli Duvall hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day & year first above written Signed Sealed & Delivered in Eli Duvall (seal) presence of Th G Waters At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Be it Remembered that on this 14th day of November one thousand Eight hundred and thirty Eight personally appeared Eli Duvall before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the state of Maryland in and for Anne Arundel County and acknowledges the aforegoing Instrument of writing to be his act and deed Exd d d Th G Waters chd 4 Recorded the 14th day of November 1838 Whereas I John Fleming of Anne Arundel County owe and stand justly indebted unto William Otis of the same County in the sum of Four hundred dollars And whereas the said William Otis is about to advance other large sums of money to or on my account Now know all men by these presents that the said |
