Set free his negro girl Priscilla to take effect from and after the expiration of fourteen years from the twenty fourth day of November eighteen hundred and forty five when the said Priscilla would have attained the age of twenty years reserving to himself and his representatives in the meantime the use and Service of the said negro girl; and did also in the said deed fix and determine the state and condition of the issue which might be born of the said negro girl during her Servitude. And whereas the legal ownership and possession of the said negro girl is now in Wilson McBee by virtue of a Bill of Sale dated the thirtieth day of may Eighteen hundred and fifty four Anna Maria Hopkins one of the heirs and legal representatives of the said Richard P Snowden deceased to the said Wilson McBee And Whereas the said Priscilla hath given birth to a female child named Gabriella now about ten months old Know all men by these presents that I Wilson McBee of the County of Howard and State of Maryland in consideration of the sum of one hundred and thirty dollars paid me by Matthias Hammond resident of the County and State aforesaid do hereby bargain and sell to the said Matthias Hammond my negro Slave Priscilla and her ofspring Gabriella, Priscilla for the unexpired time mentioned in the above recited "Bill of Sale" and Gabriella for and in accordance with the above in part recited "Deed of Manumission" as by reference thereto will more fully appear the said Negro Girl Priscilla being a Slave for the term of years recited in the above mentioned Deed of Manumission and no longer. And the said Wilson McBeing is entitled to said Slaves as provided in and by the above in part recited "Deed of manumission" a bill of Sale Witness our hands and Seals this Sixth day of January in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and fifty eight |
