anne arundel county
    (seals)      In testimony whereof I hereto set my name
    (place)      and affix the seal of anne arundel county court
this twelfth day of November in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and forty two

                To
Eliza Prettyman
     To all whom it may concern be
    it known that I Sarah G. Warfield
  of Howard county in the
 state of Maryland for divers good
causes and considerations me
thereunto moving have released from slavery
liberated and set free and by these presents do
hereby release from slavery liberate Manumit
and set free my mulatto woman named Eliza
Prettyman now aged twenty eight years and
able to work and maintain herself and her
the said mulatto woman named Eliza Prettyman
I do hereby declare to be henceforth free
Manumitted and discharged from all Manner
of service or servitude to me my executors
or administrators forever.  In witness
whereof I hereto set my hand and seal this
seventeenth day of august Eighteen hundred
and fifty five

county to wit.  On this seventeenth day of
august Eighteen hundred and fifty five
before me a justice of the peace of the
state of Maryland in and for said county

signature is thereto appended and acknowledged
the same to be her act and deed
