for Dorchester County by virtue of a supplement to the act
entitled "An additional supplement to the act to regulate Ferries
have Contracted with the said Wesley Clarkson to keep the ferry
over the North East prong of Nanticoke River from Sharp town in
Somerset County to the North West Fork in Dorchester County and
agree to allow the said Wesley Clarkson the sum of one hundred
and forty nine dollars and fifty cents current money for the same.
Now the condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden
Wesley Clarkson shall well faithfully and diligently keep the said
Ferry over the North East prong of Nanticoke River from Sharp town in
Somerset County to the North West Fork in Dorchester County from the
dawn of day light in the morning until the expiration of day
light in the Evening each day from the first day of January 1857
until the first day of January 1858 and shall keep constantly and
in good order a scow that will safely carry three passengers and three
Horses at one trip with an able bodied and skilful hand to attend
the said Ferry and shall not charge or received any greater price
for services than what is allowed by Law            his

County Commissioners      Be it remembered and it is hereby certified
for Dorchester County       that the following Bond was recorded on
       √      from         xd      the 22d day of December 1856 to wit
James Smith & others
                                         Know all men by these presents that we
William D. Travers, James Smith, & Jeremiah L. Patterson of
Dorchester County in the State of Maryland are held and firmly
bound unto the said County Commissioners as a body corporate
or politic in the full and just sum of two hundred dollars current
money of Maryland to be paid to the said County Commissioners
as a body corporate or to their certain attorney to the which payment
well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves our heirs
executors and administrators in the whole and for the whole jointly
and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated
this 22d day of November 1856.

Whereas the County Commissioners for Dorchester County have
contracted with the said William D. Travers and James Smith to
keep Slaughter Creek Bridge draw and agree to allow the said
