Annapolis, MD 21401 Dear Mr. President: In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have
vetoed Senate Bill 108 - Higher Education - Tuition Affordability Act of 2007. This bill prohibits University System of Maryland institutions and Morgan State
University from increasing resident undergraduate tuition for the 2007-2008 academic
year beyond the rates charged in the 2005-2006 academic year. House Bill 134, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me,
accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 108. Sincerely, Martin O'Malley
Governor Senate Bill 108 AN ACT concerning Higher Education - Tuition Affordability Act of 2007 FOR the purpose of prohibiting, for a certain academic year, an increase in the tuition
that may be charged to a resident undergraduate student at certain public
senior higher education institutions in Maryland; and generally relating to
tuition reductions at certain public senior higher education institutions in the
State. BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
