MEDIUM THE STATE SUPERINTENDENT CONSIDERS APPROPRIATE AND
EFFECTIVE FOR CONVEYING THE INFORMATION;

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
(III) DISTRIBUTE INFORMATIONAL MATERIALS FREE OF
CHARGE TO HEALTH CLINICS AND TO ESTABLISHMENTS OR ORGANIZATIONS THAT SERVE THE TARGETED POPULATION; AND
(IV) INCLUDE ANY OTHER MATTER THAT THE STATE
SUPERINTENDENT CONSIDERS APPROPRIATE.
(B) TO CARRY OUT THIS SECTION, THE STATE SUPERINTENDENT:
(1) ON REQUEST, SHALL RECEIVE AID OR INFORMATION FROM
ANY AGENCY OF THIS STATE OR FROM A POLITICAL SUBDIVISION;
(2) MAY REQUEST THE SERVICES OF INTERESTED ADVOCACY
GROUPS; AND
(3) MAY CONTRACT FOR ANY NECESSARY SERVICES.
(C) THE STATE BOARD SHALL INCLUDE INHALANTS AND INHALANT ABUSE, AS APPROPRIATE, IN THE CURRICULA OF THE COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAM.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That:
(a) On or before June 30, 2008, the State Board of Education shall submit a report, in accordance with § 2-1246 of the State Government Article, to the General Assembly regarding the information, awareness, and education campaign on inhalant abuse.
(b) The report shall include:
(1) a copy of all written materials distributed by the State Board and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene;
(2) statistics on inhalant abuse by Maryland students before and after the campaign;
(3) a summary of the manner in which the State Superintendent carried out the campaign;
(4) a description of how the subject of inhalants and inhalant abuse
was included in the comprehensive health education program; and
