Chapter 178 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 2004
Section 4
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Chapter 178 of the Acts of 2004
SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2004. [It shall remain effective for a period of 3 5 years and, at the end of
September 30, 2007 2009, with no further action required by the General Assembly,
this Act shall be abrogated and of no further force and effect.]
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 2007.

AN ACT concerning

Student Health - Inhalant Abuse - Awareness Campaign and Education
Requirements, Training, and Distribution of Materials
(Mackenzie's Law)
FOR the purpose of requiring the State Superintendent of Schools Department of
Education, in collaboration with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene,
to establish and promote in certain schools an information, awareness, and
education campaign related to inhalant abuse; providing for the components of
the campaign; authorizing the State Superintendent to use certain resources to
carry out the provisions of this Act; requiring the State Board of Education to
include the subject of inhalants and inhalant abuse in the curricula of the
comprehensive health education program; requiring the State Board to submit a
certain report to the General Assembly on or before a certain date provide
awareness and training for certain individuals on inhalant abuse; requiring the
Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to provide to the State Department of
Education certain information and materials on inhalant abuse; and generally
