THE PROGRAM, INCLUDING THE NUMBER OF INDIVIDUALS BUDGETED FOR THE
MEDICAID HOME AND COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICES WAIVER
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from the first sentence of former Art. 41, § 6-7A-06.
The phrase "on or before January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1 of each
year" is substituted for the former phrase "every 3 months" to maintain the
established schedule for submitting the required reports.
The second sentence of former Art. 41, § 6-7A-06, which required that
"[t]he first report shall be submitted on October 1, 2001", is deleted as
obsolete.
Defined terms: "Department" § 7-501
"Program" § 7-501
SUBTITLE 6. ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY GUARANTEED LOAN PROGRAM.

No changes are made.
(B) ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY.
(1) "ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY" MEANS ANY ITEM, EQUIPMENT, OR
DEVICE THAT IS DESIGNED TO ENABLE AN INDIVIDUAL WITH A DISABILITY TO
BECOME MORE INDEPENDENT OR A MORE PRODUCTIVE MEMBER OF THE
COMMUNITY WITH AN IMPROVED QUALITY OF LIFE.
(2) "ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY" INCLUDES WHEELCHAIRS, MOTORIZED
SCOOTERS, BRAILLE EQUIPMENT, VOICE SIMULATION SYSTEMS, SCANNERS,

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language derived without
substantive change from former Art. 41, § 14-901(b).
In paragraph (1) of this subsection, the reference to becoming "a more
productive member of the community" is added in the definition of
assistive technology, consistent with the use of the term throughout this
subtitle, to avoid repetition of that phrase. See, e.g., former Art. 41, §§
14-903 and 14-906(b).
