25-304.1. (a) Except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, a member may not
purchase service credit under this title if the member is separated from employment. (b) A member WHO IS SEPARATED FROM EMPLOYMENT may purchase
service credit under this title [if the member is on] FOR a leave of absence approved
by the Board of Trustees under regulations that apply to all members, IF THE
MEMBER PURCHASES THE SERVICE CREDIT WITHIN 60 DAYS AFTER THE
EXPIRATION OF THE LEAVE OF ABSENCE. 25-401. (a) A member may retire with a normal service retirement allowance if: (1) on or before the date of retirement, the member has at least 20
years of eligibility service; (2) for at least 5 years immediately before retirement, the member was: (I) a security attendant at Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center [,]; (II) a correctional officer in any of the first six job
classifications[, or]; (III) A DETENTION CENTER OFFICER EMPLOYED BY A
PARTICIPATING GOVERNMENTAL UNIT THAT HAS ELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN
THE CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS' RETIREMENT SYSTEM; (IV) AN INDIVIDUAL SERVING AS A CORRECTIONAL DIETARY,
MAINTENANCE, OR SUPPLY OFFICER; OR (V) in a combination of these positions; and (3) the member completes and submits a written application to the
Board of Trustees stating the date when the member desires to retire. (b) On retirement under this section, a member is entitled to receive a
normal service retirement allowance that equals one fifty-fifth of the member's
average final compensation multiplied by the number of years of creditable service.
