21-706.

(a)     If a school vehicle has stopped on a roadway and is operating the
alternately flashing red lights specified in § 22-228 of this article, the driver of any
other vehicle meeting or overtaking the school vehicle shall stop at least 20 feet from
the rear of the school vehicle, if approaching the school vehicle from its rear, or at
least 20 feet from the front of the school vehicle, if approaching the school vehicle
from its front.

(b)     If a school vehicle has stopped on a roadway and is operating the
alternately flashing red lights specified in § 22-228 of this article, the driver of any
other vehicle meeting or overtaking the school vehicle may not proceed until the
school vehicle resumes motion or the alternately flashing red lights are deactivated.

(c)     This section does not apply to the driver of a vehicle on a divided highway,
if the school vehicle is on a different roadway.

27-101.

(g) Any person who is convicted of a violation of any of the [provisions of §
13-704 of this article or § 21-901.1(a) of this article ("Reckless driving")] FOLLOWING
SECTIONS OF THIS ARTICLE is subject to a fine of not more than $1,000:

(1)      § 13-704 ("FRAUD IN APPLICATION");

(2)      § 21-706 ("OVERTAKING AND PASSING SCHOOL VEHICLE"); OR

(3)      § 21-901.1(A) ("RECKLESS DRIVING").

SECTION 4. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect October 1, 2004.

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed House Bill 1255 - Law Enforcement Officers' Pension System - Membership -
Salisbury Fire Department.

This bill provides specified firefighters and paramedics, who are employed by the
Salisbury Fire Department, membership in the Law Enforcement Officers' Pension
System. It specifies the procedural requirements, which a participating governmental
unit must meet, to have its firefighters or paramedics participate in the Law
Enforcement Officers' Pension System.

Senate Bill 504, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May
