In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed House Bill 819 - Insurance - Regulation of Insurance Producers - Written
Documentation of Appointment.

This bill alters the condition under which an insurance producer may act on behalf of
an insurer, and prohibits an insurance producer from acting on behalf of an insurer,
unless the insurance producer has received written documentation of the
appointment from the insurer.

Senate Bill 147, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May
11, 2004, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign
House Bill 819.

AN ACT concerning

Insurance - Regulation of Insurance Producers - Written Documentation of

Appointment

FOR the purpose of altering the condition under which an insurance producer may
act on behalf of an insurer; prohibiting an insurance producer from acting on
behalf of an insurer unless the insurance producer has received written
documentation of the appointment from the insurer; and generally relating to
the regulation of insurance producers.
