AN ACT concerning

Recreational Vessels - Personal Flotation Devices for Children - Additional

Requirements

FOR the purpose of requiring that certain children wear certain personal flotation
devices on recreational vessels; authorizing, for a certain time, the inclusion of
certain additional safety precautions on certain personal flotation devices;
requiring that, as of a certain date, certain personal flotation devices feature
certain additional safety precautions; altering the definitions of a certain terms
term; making certain technical corrections; requiring the Department of Natural
Resources to report to certain persons by a certain date regarding certain
aspects of boating safety; providing for the termination of certain provisions of
this Act; providing for the effective dates of this Act; and generally relating to
certain additional requirements regarding personal flotation devices for
children.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Natural Resources

8-743.

(a) (1) In this section the following words have the meanings indicated.
(2) "Child" means an individual WHO:

(I)      IS under the age of 7 years, REGARDLESS OF THE INDIVIDUAL'S
WEIGHT; OR

(II)     WEIGHS 50 POUNDS OR LESS, REGARDLESS OF THE
INDIVIDUAL'S AGE.
