SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 2004.

(House Bill 1049)

AN ACT concerning

Washington County - Revenues - Education

FOR the purpose of altering the uses for which the revenues from the Washington
County building excise tax may be expended; altering the uses for which the
revenues from the Washington County transfer tax may be expended; and
generally relating to the use of revenues generated by Washington County's
building excise tax and transfer tax.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
The Public Local Laws of Washington County
Section 2-701(c) and 2-702(d)
Article 22 - Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1991 Edition and 1997 Supplement, as amended)
(As enacted by Chapter 468 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 2003)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 22 - Washington County

2-701.

(c) (1) The County Director of Finance shall deposit the revenues from the
building excise tax into a special fund.

(2) The revenues from the special fund may only be used for:

(i) school renovation and construction;

(II) PRIMARY, SECONDARY, OR HIGHER EDUCATION CAPITAL
EXPENDITURES;

[(ii)] (III) public safety capital expenditures;

[(iii)] (IV) public infrastructure projects; and

[(iv)] (V) debt reduction.
