(iv) an officer who is in probationary status on initial entry into the
law enforcement agency except if an allegation of brutality in the execution of the
officer's duties is made; OR

(V) A MONTGOMERY COUNTY FIRE AND EXPLOSIVE INVESTIGATOR
AS DEFINED IN § 2-208.1 OF THE CRIMINAL PROCEDURE ARTICLE.

3-201.

(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.

(e) (2) "Police officer" includes:

(i) a member of the Field Enforcement Division of the
Comptroller's Office;

(ii) the State Fire Marshal or a deputy State fire marshal; [and]

(iii) an investigator of the Internal Investigative Unit of the
Department; AND

(IV) A MONTGOMERY COUNTY FIRE AND EXPLOSIVE INVESTIGATOR
AS DEFINED IN § 2-208.1 OF THE CRIMINAL PROCEDURE ARTICLE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Maryland Police
Training Commission shall certify as a police officer each Montgomery County fire
and explosive investigator who meets the requirements of § 2-208.1 of the Criminal
Procedure Article on October 1, 2004.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect October 1, 2004.

CHAPTER 378
(House Bill 810)

AN ACT concerning

Consumer Protection - Consumer Household Goods Movers - Receipts

FOR the purpose of requiring a consumer household goods mover, on completion of
consumer household goods moving services for an intrastate move, to provide a
consumer with a certain written receipt; authorising the Attorney General to
institute a civil action against any person that violates this Act to recover for the
State a certain penalty for each violation; providing that for purposes of this Act,
each prohibited failure to provide a consumer with a certain written receipt is an
independent violation; authorizing the Attorney General to seek a certain
injunction; defining certain terms; providing for the application of this Act;
and
generally relating to consumer household goods movers.
