Section 11-401

Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 24 - Political Subdivisions - Miscellaneous Provisions

[11-401.

Notwithstanding any other sections of the Business Regulation Article, in Cecil
County any palm reader, fortune-teller, soothsayer, or similar person shall apply to
the Board of County Commissioners of Cecil County for a license to carry on business.
The license shall be issued by the County Commissioners only upon proof that the
person has been a resident, taxpayer, and property owner of Cecil County for at least
18 months prior to the application for the license. The annual fee for the license shall
be $250 and the license shall be issued by the clerk of the Circuit Court of Cecil
County and may be revoked by the Board for good cause.]

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2004.

(House Bill 477)

AN ACT concerning

Tobacco Product Manufacturers - Master Settlement Agreement - Escrow

Requirements

FOR the purpose of specifying that the amounts tobacco product manufacturers are
required to place into escrow accounts are based on a certain factor; altering the
circumstances under which the funds in escrow accounts may be released;
making the provisions of this Act severable; providing for the termination of this
Act under certain circumstances; and generally relating to tobacco product
manufacturers and certain escrow accounts.

BY repealing and reenacting, without amendments,

Chapter 169 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1999, as amended by
Chapter 141 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 2001
