2002 Resolution
of the
General Assembly Compensation Commission
Determining the Compensation and Allowances of
Members of the General Assembly
The General Assembly Compensation Commission, pursuant to Article m, Section 15 of the
Constitution of Maryland, adopts the following resolution determining the compensation and
allowances of members of the General Assembly.
RESOLVED, That, from and after January 8,2003, the members of the General Assembly
shall be entitled to receive compensation and allowances in accordance with the items contained in
this Resolution and no other compensation or allowances of any kind whatsoever.
Item 1A
Each member of the General Assembly, except the President of the Senate and the Speaker
of the House of Delegates, shall receive an annual salary as follows, payable in twelve monthly
installments each year:
(1) Thirty-four thousand five hundred dollars ($34,500) during calendar year 2003;
(2) Thirty-seven thousand five hundred dollars ($37,500) during calendar year 2004;
(3) Forty thousand five hundred dollars ($40,500) during calendar year 2005; and
(4) Forty-three thousand five hundred dollars ($43,500) for the period which includes
calendar year 2006 and that portion of January 2007 preceding the commencement of the next term
of office.
Item 1B
The President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Delegates shall each receive an
annual salary as follows, payable in twelve monthly installments each year:
(1) Forty-seven thousand five hundred dollars ($47,500) during calendar year 2003;
(2) Fifty thousand five hundred dollars ($50,500) during calendar year 2004;
(3) Fifty-three thousand five hundred dollars ($53,500) during calendar year 2005; and
