1. unsuccessfully appealed the finding in accordance with
the procedures established under § 5-706.1 of this subtitle; or
2. failed to exercise the individual's appeal rights within the
time frames specified in § 5-706.1 of this subtitle, Title 10, Subtitle 2 of the State
Government Article, or the Maryland Rules.
(2) The Department without the necessity of a request shall remove from
the name of an individual described in paragraph (1) of this subsection the
identification of that individual as responsible for abuse or neglect if no entry has
been made for that individual for 7 years after the entry of the individual's name in a
registry.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2002.

Dear Mr. President:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed Senate BUI 865 - Baltimore City - Orphans' Court Judges - Salary.
This bill increases the salaries of associate judges of the Baltimore City Orphans'
Court from $50,000 to $55,000 and the salary of the chief judge from $60,000 to
$65,000.
House Bill 1362, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me,
accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 865.

AN ACT concerning
Baltimore City - Orphans' Court Judges - Salary and Pensions
FOR the purpose of altering the salary of the Chief Judge and the associate judges of
the Orphans' Court for Baltimore City; altering the annual pension or salary for
certain retired judges of the Orphans' Court for Baltimore City; providing that
this Act does not apply to the salary or compensation of the incumbent Chief
Judge and the associate judges of the Orphans' Court for Baltimore City; and
