part-time undergraduate students are $1,000 for students attending two—year
institutions of higher education and $2,500 for students attending four-year
institutions of higher education.
House Bill 1172, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me,
accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 734.

AN ACT concerning
Higher Education - Student Financial Assistance - Maryland Teacher
Scholarship
FOR the purpose of expanding the eligibility and renewability requirements for the
Maryland Teacher Scholarship to certain part-time students who are pursuing
an undergraduate degree in teaching; making certain teaching assistants
eligible for the Maryland Teacher Scholarship program; specifying the amount
for a certain scholarship award; and generally relating to the Maryland Teacher
Scholarship program.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

18-2201.
(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.
(b) " Eligible institution" means a public or private institution of higher
education in this State that possesses a certificate of approval from the Maryland
Higher Education Commission.
