S.B. 698 VETOES
(2) IN DORCHESTER COUNTY, THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MAY
PROVIDE THAT A VIOLATION OF A COUNTY DOG OR CAT CONTROL ORDINANCE
SHALL BE PROSECUTED BY THE COUNTY IN THE SAME MANNER AND TO THE SAME
EXTENT AS PROVIDED FOR MUNICIPAL INFRACTIONS UNDER ARTICLE 23A, §
3(B) OF
THE CODE.
(2) IN DORCHESTER COUNTY, THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MAY, BY
ORDINANCE, IMPOSE A CIVIL PENALTY FOR A VIOLATION OF A COUNTY ANIMAL

CONTROL ORDINANCE. SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2002.

Annapolis MD 21401 Dear Mr. President: In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed Senate Bill 698 - Dorchester County - Alcoholic Beverages - Class B Licenses. This bill reduces the minimum seating capacity requirement from 100 to 75 seats (at
tables) for restaurants, motels and hotels in Dorchester County with a Class B beer,
wine and liquor license. House Bill 1397, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me,
accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 698.  Sincerely, Parris N. Glendening Governor  Senate Bill No. 698 AN ACT concerning Dorchester County - Alcoholic Beverages - Tavern Licenses) Class B Licenses FOR the purpose of establishing altering in Dorchester County a Class D (on-sale)
tavern licence; specifying a certain
annual license fee; establishing a certain
seating requirement for the premises that are the sub
ject of the license
application; specifying that the license is for consumption of beer, wine and
liquor on premises only; and generally relating to tavern licenses in Dorchester

County, for certain restaurants, motels, and hotels with restaurant facilities,
the minimum seating capacity required to qualify for a Class B beer, wine and
liquor license; and generally relating to Class B licenses in Dorchester County.
