(4) [A] AN ELECTED trustee serves until the successor of the trustee is
[appointed] ELECTED and qualifies.
[(e)] (D) On taking office, each ELECTED trustee shall take the oath required
by Article I, § 9 of the Maryland Constitution.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2002.

(House Bill 1221)
AN ACT concerning
Education - Disabled Children - Nonpublic Educational Programs and
Related Services
FOR the purpose of providing that a child with a disability who needs special
education and related services is eligible for an appropriate nonpublic
educational placement if a State or local agency provides documentation that
the child cannot attend a local public school because of the child's home
circumstances or, subject to a certain provision, because of a medical necessity;
defining a certain term; requiring that the cost of providing certain services
shall be paid by the State and the county according to a certain formula, subject
to the availability of funds in the State budget; prohibiting payment or
reimbursement for certain services under a certain formula if alternative
funding is available; requiring a local management board to pay for certain
student transportation costs under certain circumstances; and generally
relating to children with disabilities and nonpublic educational programs and
related services.
