(2) WELL DOCUMENTED AND APPROVED MEDICAL USE OF THE
SUBSTANCE IN THE UNITED STATES; AND
(3) EVIDENCE THAT ABUSE OF THE SUBSTANCE MAY LEAD TO
MODERATE OR LOW PHYSICAL DEPENDENCE OR HIGH PSYCHOLOGICAL
DEPENDENCE.
REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsections (a)(1) and (b) through (f) of this section are new
language derived without substantive change from former Art, 27, §§
277(c) and 279(c).
Subsection (a)(2) and (3) of this section is new language added to state
explicitly that which was only formerly implied in the law.
In subsection (b)(1)(ii)16 of this section, the reference to
"methyltestosterone" is substituted for the former incorrect reference to
"methystestosterone" for accuracy.
In subsection (g)(1) and (3) of this section, the reference to abuse "of the
substance" is added for clarity.
In subsection (g)(3) of this section, the reference to "evidence that" abuse of
the substance may lead to dependence is added for clarity.

5-405. SCHEDULE IV.
(A) IN GENERAL.
SCHEDULE IV CONSISTS OF EACH CONTROLLED DANGEROUS SUBSTANCE:
(1) LISTED IN THIS SECTION;
(2) ADDED TO SCHEDULE IV BY THE DEPARTMENT UNDER § 5-202(B) OF
THIS TITLE; OR
(3) DESIGNATED AS A SCHEDULE IV CONTROLLED DANGEROUS
SUBSTANCE BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT UNLESS THE DEPARTMENT OBJECTS
UNDER § 5-202(F) OF THIS TITLE.
(B) CORE SUBSTANCES.
SUBSTANCES LISTED IN SCHEDULE IV INCLUDE A MATERIAL, COMPOUND,
MIXTURE, OR PREPARATION THAT CONTAINS ANY QUANTITY OF THE FOLLOWING
SUBSTANCES HAVING A POTENTIAL FOR ABUSE ASSOCIATED WITH A DEPRESSANT
EFFECT ON THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM:
(1) BARBITAL;
