of the expansion; (2) amount and sources
of funding; (3) a discussion of who the
intended beneficiaries of the system are
and how the expansion will serve their
transit needs; and (4) a comparative
analysis of the costs and benefits that
would result from implementing a Bus
Rapid Transit system. The budget
committees shall have 45 days to review
and comment on the report from the date
of its receipt.
Provided that the Maryland Transit
Administration (MTA) shall provide a
report to the budget committees by
January 1, 2003, which includes: (1) a
determination of what the State's
share of the construction costs could
be, including funds that would be
provided to local jurisdictions that
would go toward funding Maglev;
(2) the financial and non-financial
costs and benefits to the State in
general and the local jurisdictions
through which Maglev could travel in
particular; and. (3) what actions MTA
has taken to address concerns of local
communities that would be affected by
Maglev's path. The budget committees
shall have 45 days to review and
comment on the report from the date
of its receipt.
