Article—Courts and Judicial Proceedings
2-609.
EACH DISTRICT COURT BAILIFF, WHETHER FULL-TIME OR PART TIME, SHALL
BE A PERMANENT EMPLOYEE IN THE PERSONNEL SYSTEM OF THE JUDICIAL
BRANCH.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Administrative Office
of the Courts.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Administrative Office of the Courts:
(a) shall review the compensation of District Court bailiffs and evaluate
the appropriateness of their compensation in comparison to the compensation of other
court courts' security personnel, including bailiffs in the circuit courts; and
(b) on or before December 15, 2002, shall report to the General Assembly,
in accordance with § 2-1246 of the State Government Article, on its findings and
recommendations.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the provisions of § 2-609
of the Courts and Judicial Proceedings Article, as enacted by Section 1 of this Act,
shall apply to all bailiffs employed by the District Court on or after the effective date
of this Act.
SECTION 4. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect October 1, 2002.
