PARRIS N. GLENDENING, Governor Ch. 333
(V) 1 SHALL BE A VETERAN OF THE PERSIAN GULF WAR APPOINTED
FROM THE STATE AT LARGE. (b) Each member must be a resident of the State and a veteran whose final
separation from active service with a uniformed service of the United States was
under honorable conditions. (c) (1) The term of an appointed member is 7 years: (2) The terms of the appointed members are staggered as required by the
terms provided for members of the Commission on October 1, 1984. (3) At the end of a term, a member continues to serve until a successor is
appointed and qualifies. (4) A member who is appointed after a term has begun serves only for
the rest of the term and until a successor is appointed and qualifies. SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2002. Approved May 6, 2002.
CHAPTER 333
(Senate Bill 672) AN ACT concerning Nuisance Control - Authority to Investigate and File a Complaint - Penalties for Violations FOR the purpose of authorizing local health officers to investigate suspected
nuisances and to file a complaint for nuisance abatement under certain
circumstances in a certain court; requiring a certain notice for abatement of a
nuisance; specifying the terms of a notice for abatement of a nuisance;
authorizing the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene, a local health officer,
or their representative the representative of the Secretary or local health official
officer to summarily abate a nuisance under certain circumstances; specifying
certain provisions that may be included in a request for a court order; providing
certain fines for certain violations of this Act; establishing certain criminal
penalties for certain violations of this Act; defining a certain term; requiring
authorizing the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene to adopt certain
regulations; providing for the construction of certain provisions of law; and
generally relating to the abatement of nuisances. BY adding to Article - Health — General
