THE BOARD EXERCISES ITS POWERS, DUTIES, AND FUNCTIONS SUBJECT TO
THE AUTHORITY OF THE SECRETARY.
SUBTITLE 3. LICENSING.
6.5-301.
EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS TITLE, THE BOARD HAS GENERAL
SUPERVISION OF ALL STATIONARY ENGINEERS WITHIN THE STATE.
6.5-302.
(A) TO QUALIFY FOR A LICENSE, AN APPLICANT SHALL BE AN INDIVIDUAL
WHO MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS SECTION.
(B) THE APPLICANT SHALL BE OF GOOD CHARACTER AND REPUTATION.
(C) THE APPLICANT SHALL MEET THE EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS AND SHALL PASS AN EXAMINATION AS REQUIRED UNDER § 6.5-305
OF THIS SUBTITLE.
6.5-303.
(A) IN ADDITION TO THE OTHER QUALIFICATIONS FOR A LICENSE SET FORTH
IN THIS SUBTITLE, AN APPLICANT SHALL QUALIFY UNDER THIS SECTION BY
MEETING THE EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH IN
SUBSECTION (B) OF THIS SECTION.
(B) (1) AN APPLICANT FOR THE FIRST GRADE STATIONARY ENGINEER'S
EXAMINATION QUALIFIES UNDER THIS SECTION IF THE APPLICANT POSSESSES AT
LEAST ONE OF THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:
(I) A SECOND GRADE STATIONARY ENGINEER LICENSE FOR 1 YEAR
OR MORE AND EMPLOYMENT FOR AT LEAST 12 MONTHS (1,750 WORKING HOURS) IN
THE OPERATION OF HIGH PRESSURE BOILERS;
(II) 5 YEARS OR MORE OPERATING EXPERIENCE IN A PLANT THAT
GENERATES A MINIMUM OF 17,350 POUNDS OF STEAM PER HOUR;
(III) A DEGREE IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING FROM AN
ACCREDITED UNIVERSITY OR COLLEGE, AND 6 MONTHS OR MORE OF PRACTICAL
EXPERIENCE; OR
(IV) A VALID MARINE ENGINEER'S CERTIFICATE OR A CHIEF PETTY
OFFICER'S CERTIFICATE FROM THE UNITED STATES NAVY, WITH STEAM BOILER
ENGINEER TRAINING.
(B) AN APPLICANT FOR A SECOND GRADE STATIONARY ENGINEER'S
EXAMINATION QUALIFIES UNDER THIS SECTION IF THE APPLICANT POSSESSES AT
LEAST ONE OF THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:
