8-725.6. SPEED LIMIT ON CERTAIN AREAS OF MONOCACY RIVER
(A) PROHIBITED.
A PERSON MAY NOT OPERATE A VESSEL ON THE MONOCACY RIVER BETWEEN
STARNER'S DAM AND THE UPSTREAM ISLAND IN CARROLL AND FREDERICK
COUNTIES AT A SPEED IN EXCESS OF 6 KNOTS.
(B) PENALTY.
A PERSON WHO VIOLATES THIS SECTION IS GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND
ON CONVICTION IS SUBJECT TO IMPRISONMENT NOT EXCEEDING 30 DAYS OR A FINE
OF NOT LESS THAN $25 AND NOT EXCEEDING $200 OR BOTH.
REVISOR'S NOTE: Chapter 26, Acts of 2002, which enacted the Criminal Law
Article, also added this section, which is new language derived without
substantive change from former Art. 27, § 21(c) and, as it related to the
vessel speed limit on the Monocacy River, (b).
In subsection (a) of this section, the reference to a "vessel" is substituted
for the former reference to a "boat" for consistency within this subtitle.
Also in subsection (a) of this section, the former reference to "that part of
the Monocacy River" is deleted as surplusage.
