SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 10 - Legal Officials

(u) In Talbot County,

(4) (iii) A criminal investigator who is appointed under this paragraph:

8. Is not subject to any of the provisions of [Article 27, §§ 727
through 734D] TITLE 3, SUBTITLE 1 OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY ARTICLE.

(iv) If a criminal investigator meets the requirements of [Article 41,
§ 4-201 of the Code] TITLE 3, SUBTITLE 2 OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY ARTICLE relating to
the selection and training standards of the Police Training Commission, the State's
Attorney may designate the criminal investigator as a peace officer.

(v) If a criminal investigator is designated as a peace officer, under
item (iv) of this paragraph, the criminal investigator:

1. May not be subject to the provisions of [Article 27, §§ 727
through 734D of the Code] TITLE 3, SUBTITLE 1 OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY ARTICLE; and

(a) (3) "DNA technology equipment" means any equipment used for DNA
testing purposes including those purposes listed under [Article 88B, § 12A (g)(1) of
the Code] § 2-505 OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY ARTICLE.

additions to buildings or vehicles, except as required by this paragraph or as
