GENERAL REVISOR'S NOTE TO SUBTITLE:

In revising the various articles of the Annotated Code, it was the usual practice
of the former Commission to Revise the Annotated Code and article review
committees to make very few, if any, changes to compacts. The Public Safety Article
Review Committee has made no changes to the text of the Emergency Management
Assistance Compact, which comprises § 14-702 of this subtitle. To conform to current
code revision drafting conventions, catchlines have been added to sections and
subsections of sections of this subtitle. These catchlines, however, are not law and the
addition of catchlines to this subtitle does not affect the substance of the Compact.

SUBTITLE 8. MARYLAND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ASSISTANCE COMPACT.
14-801. DEFINITIONS.

(a)     IN GENERAL.

In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.

(b)     AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE.

"Authorized representative" means an employee of a local jurisdiction
authorized by the senior elected official of that jurisdiction to request, offer, or provide
assistance under the terms of the compact.

(c)      COMPACT.

"Compact" means the Maryland Emergency Management Assistance Compact.

"Jurisdictions" means the 23 counties within Maryland, Baltimore City, and
Ocean City.
